Ensuring local VCS groups don’t lose out in Lottery changes PDF Print E-mail

The Cabinet Office has proposed changes to the Big Lottery Fund[i].  This fund is about £600m per annum of which approximately 90% goes to voluntary, community and faith groups including social enterprises (VCS).  As such The Big Lottery is the largest single source of grant funding for local VCS groups.

GRANT to Third Sector Lancashire PDF Print E-mail

Lancashire County Council has awarded a grant to Third Sector Lancashire to sustain its work in representing voluntary, community and faith organisations in the County, especially in consultations with the public and private sectors.
 

Council Leader Geoff Driver said "We value the work of Third Sector Lancashire and look forward to continuing and developing our partnership".

There continues to be significant reductions in public spending, along with proposals for public service reform and a de-centralisation of power from a central to a local level. The scale and speed of spending cuts is having a significant impact on the sector and the communities it serves and supports.

The MBE for Volunteer Groups.

Nominations are being sought for the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2012, the year of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Any member of the public can nominate a volunteer group working in the local community, even if they benefit from its work, but volunteers and paid staff are unable to make nominations. The closing date for nominations for the 2012 round of awards is Friday 30th September 2011.
