Aim of the course:
To provide basic information and support to voluntary agency professionals on safeguarding children and support them in creating policies that support safeguarding children
Anticipated Learning Outcomes of the Course
By the end of the Workshop participants will be able to:-
1. Know the definition of abuse and the 4 categories in ‘Working Together’ 2006
2. Understanding of who tends to abuse
3. Indicators of vulnerability, including adults who are vulnerable
4. Indicators of child abuse w/in context of child development
5. Understand own and other agency role
6. Know where to find the safeguarding procedures including allegations against staff
7. Understand the importance of support for staff
8. Know and be able to use the referral pathways
9. Understand the thresholds of risk and significant harm in relation to Lancashire’s continuum of need
10. Know when and how to share information
11. Know the confidentiality policy. Know the whistleblowing policy
12. Know when, how and where to record information and how to keep it secure
13. Know specific legislation and guidance for your agency
14. Have an opportunity to review and amend their existing policies regarding safeguarding children
