The MBE for Volunteer Groups.
Nominations are being sought for the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2012, the year of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Any member of the public can nominate a volunteer group working in the local community, even if they benefit from its work, but volunteers and paid staff are unable to make nominations. The BIG Lottery Fund has been asked by the Cabinet Office to invite one bid from each ‘upper-tier’ local authority for funds for ‘Transforming Local Infrastructure.’
Third Sector Lancashire has offered to other infrastructure bodies in the geographical county a process whereby we all can reach agreement as to who the single applicant should be, on a professional, transparent and democratic basis.
As part of this, we intend to consult front-line bodies, since it is to assist them that infrastructure exists.
